Who we are
visithawkhurst.org.uk is published by Centraserve Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. For data protection purposes Centraserve Ltd is the data controller for this website. You can reach us through our contact page, which is the quickest way to get a reply.
What we collect
Information you give us
If you use the contact form we collect the name, email address and message you provide. We use them solely to read and reply to your message. We do not add you to a mailing list — there isn't one — and we do not pass your details to anyone else.
The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. Messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with the correspondence and any follow-up, and are then deleted.
Information collected automatically
Our web server keeps standard access logs, which record the IP address making a request, the time, the page requested, the referring page and the browser's user agent string. These are used to keep the site running securely and to diagnose faults. They are retained for a short period and then rotated out.
The site is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes the same request data in order to route traffic and protect the site from abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Listings and other content
Entries in the directory describe businesses, venues and organisations rather than private individuals, and the message board carries posts that were submitted for publication. If you are connected with something published here and would like it amended or removed, please ask us and we will deal with it. You do not need to give a reason.
Cookies and similar technologies
This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising networks or any third-party tracking. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
A single session cookie is set only if you log in to the site's private admin area, which is not accessible to visitors.
Content delivery networks
Some styling and font files are loaded from third-party content delivery networks (jsDelivr and Google Fonts). Requesting those files discloses your IP address to those providers, as any request to any server does. They are not used to track you across this site.
Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so will not stop this site working — the pages are plain HTML.
Data sharing and transfers
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. The service providers described above process data as part of providing their service, and some are based outside the UK — meaning your data may be transferred internationally under the safeguards those providers operate.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have data erased, where we have no continuing reason to keep it;
- restrict or object to our processing of it;
- ask for data you gave us to be provided in a portable form;
- withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
To exercise any of these, use the contact page. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold about you is a contact form message, and we will delete it on request.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Children
This site is a general guide aimed at adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be described here rather than made silently.
